The Prayer Garden Ministry exists to maintain and beautify the Prayer Garden, which is on the raised platform accessed through the corridor to the left of the atrium as you look towards the altar (or up the steps from the exit driveway, if one chooses to enter from the outside). It is our hope that this small, enclosed space will provide peace and comfort to any who choose to linger or sit there—a place for quiet reflection, prayer, and appreciation for the beauty of nature. Currently our mission does not extend to any other gardens or locations on the Corpus Christi campus.
About Us
The Prayer Garden Ministry meets infrequently as a group. However, one or more members will attend to the garden so that it is watered and cared for at least three days/week. Usually such visits take under an hour. We currently have one person arrive Monday noon, another on Wednesday morning, and a third on Friday evenings, depending on weather. Additional members may come with those three or separately at any time that is convenient for them. We would love to have just a few more members so that we can be assured the garden is maintained.Join Us
Commitment to this ministry is of course seasonal. We convened in mid-May, and will continue to maintain the garden until after we have had enough frost to clear the dead leaves away. Hopefully, we will begin next year in April. No one would be expected to work in the garden more than one hour/week.

Jean Dory resided in New Providence for 41 years before crossing the river from OLP to Corpus Christi in 2000 when her daughter joined Extreme Faith. Her contributions to the parish for many years were based on helping Psomi assemble the songbooks for Extreme Faith, etc. For eight years, Jean was delighted to be in Psomi’s “Disciples in Faith” Bible study group. She enjoys Bible studies here, and likes to help set up the Senior Luncheons. A native of Belmont, Massachusetts, Jean is a graduate of Pace University, from which she retired in 2018 as a writing center professional tutor/English teaching assistant. She and her husband, John, were recently honored with a 50th anniversary blessing at Corpus Christi. They have two children, each with two children.
