Lectors are the proclaimers of God's Word during the Eucharistic celebration.
The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. The lector may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and, in the absence of a psalmist, recite the Psalm between the readings.

I have been a devoted parishioner at Corpus Christi Parish since 2016 and have resided in Chatham with my wife and two children since 2004. Being a lector is a gift and a duty, a mission and a passion, and something that reached out to me not long after becoming a Catholic in 2016. To me, a lector is responsible for communicating the Word and its deepest meanings to parishioners, reaching the faithful at the levels of their mind, heart and soul. It's most important to let the Word speak through you rather than by you.
